Your mailbox never leaves your computer. The file is read by your own browser and is never uploaded, stored or seen by us. This page explains that, and the small amount of data the website itself does handle.
Last updated: 7 October 2026. This policy covers readmbox.com, operated by One Scales Inc. ("we", "us").
When you open an .mbox file, your browser reads it from your disk using standard file APIs. No message, address, subject, file name or attachment is sent to us or to anyone else, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to. Exports (CSV, PDF, EML, MBOX, ZIP) are made in your browser and saved straight to your computer. You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and load a file.
To make the tool faster and remember your purchase, a few things are saved in your browser's local storage on your computer. We can't see them:
Clearing your browser's site data removes all of these.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It sets its own cookies and receives standard information such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device type. It has no access to your mailbox. Blocking analytics doesn't affect the viewer.
Pages load a web font from Google Fonts. Embedded videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced (no-cookie) player, which doesn't set cookies until you press play.
If you buy an unlock, payment is handled by our payment processor, Stripe, on its own checkout page. We never see your card details. We receive your email address and a checkout reference, which we store with your unlock key so we can send the key to you and help if you lose it. The key is emailed through an email delivery service. When you apply a key, your browser sends only the key to our licence server to check it's valid.
If you contact us through the support form (a Google Form), we receive whatever you enter, such as your email address and message, and use it only to reply.
If you connect an AI assistant to the page, it can read the mailbox you have open, the same way you can. We still never upload anything, but whatever that assistant reads goes wherever that assistant sends it. It can't open a file by itself and has no access to attachments. If you don't use one, nothing changes.
You can block analytics cookies in your browser or with an extension, and the tool keeps working. To ask about, correct or delete the purchase details we hold (your email address and key), contact us through the support form. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions: use the support form.
